intro for CEI |

|
|
CEI, a program committed to
building an outstanding brand in Chinese environmental training,
intends to train the major forces and future leaders in
environmental protection in China. “Lectern of Masterminds” is a
special training course of CEI targeting government officials and
business management at higher levels. CEI, regarding a current
topic, invites one to three top-notch scholars in a particular field
to give lectures, and adopts various ways of interaction such as
face-to-face discussion with the lecturers to promote communication
and insights. CEI hopes that this platform will provide wisdom and
insights of the experts to elites in the society, business and
government, in a bid to inspire and to encourage efforts to identify
ways to achieve balance between development and environment. |

Background |
环保、公众与传媒角色
Environmental degradation, both local and global, has become one of
the most critical global concerns. While experiencing fast economic
growth, China is increasingly challenged by the environmental
consequences of its economic miracle. Environmental protection
requires not only a solid legal framework and an effective
management system, but also the participation and engagement of the
public. The power of the media lies in its capacity to influence how
people, business and government think and act. It particularly plays
a critical role in raising the environmental awareness of the
general public.
This forum will try to address the following questions: What is the
role the media plays in international environmental progress? What
can we learn from the foreign media’s lessons and experiences? What
are the problems and concerns the domestic media faces? How can we
better communicate China’s achievements in environmental protection
to the international community? Some renowned international and
domestic environmental journalists will come and share their views
with us, as well as exchange ideas with domestic and foreign
journalists in panel discussions.
This forum is sponsored by China Environmental Culture Promotion
Association(CECPA) & Environment Defense Fund (EDF), and is
organized by China Environmental Innovators (CEI). |
